Semi-Unpopular Opinion: It’s not enough to know ‘about’ Gxd, creator, or whatever you call The One.

It’s not enough to learn ‘about’ spiritual beliefs.

Intellectualizing is not knowing.

There’s a difference between reading the manual and putting the thing together. You can read the word ‘water’ all day and stay bone dry. Until you actually commit to a spiritual practice and follow your faith… you may have learned things, but you know nothing.

This is not to say that it’s bad to read, learn, be curious and collect knowledge. But doing so is like filling your mouth with food. Eventually, you will need to chew, swallow and digest. And no matter how good a food looks or tastes, it is during digestion that you learn its true quality. There is a huge difference between reading a nice recipe and digesting a nourishing meal. There are foods that taste nice and sour the stomach.

Unfortunately it’s very common these days for people to hold themselves back by being afraid to actually commit to a spiritual practice. They’re afraid to judge and engage in judging ‘spiritual’ people. Make no mistake, this is by design- it is an intentional result of Colonization. The people invested in erasing cultural practices that impart spiritual power are partner to the people that misappropriate and abuse them, giving them a bad name.

And where does that leave the average person? Mistrusting of the practices or completely doubting them, and thus lacking a connection to their own inner power. If you want to blossom into your higher self, you need to be honest about what you’re doing; intellectualizing about spiritual practices is NOTHING like actually practicing them. To be intellectually curious about spirituality but avoidant of the vulnerability and respect it takes to practice is a common stumbling block. And until you get over it, your highest self and your manifest dreams will simply be waiting for you. How much longer until you make your leap of faith?
