Why preparation is the missing ingredient in manifestation.

Are you prepared to get what you want?

(Be honest.)

There’s lots of tips, tricks and techniques to tell you how to align your vibes, walk in faith, and visualize your outcome, but that didn’t prepare you for this: What if you fumble?

Somewhere along the way, believing in the miracle of your desire becomes second nature and you meet a brand new challenge: actually getting to the end. Not the sabbath (which I have talked about before here), not signs or ‘birds before land’, not the 5D version, but the actual experience of your desire in the 3D.

This is because you were probably taught loads about calling things in, and very little about receiving them.

Think about it this way- you could ask me for something you want, like an apple from the kitchen. Doing so shows you believe that there is an apple, and that I will give it to you. But asking for the apple, and setting in action the processes that lead to me returning from the kitchen with one, is not all you need to do. At some point you will need to be able to reach out your hand, grasp, receive and eat it.

Sometimes we have seen the archetype of the guy that flirts with a girl and then gets stuck in the interaction when she responds with interest. “I never thought I’d get this far!” he says, and starts an anxious montage or comedic scene usually involving him fumbling the opportunity— badly.

While the rules of entertainment dictate that this trope usually ends well for the fumbler, in reality it is terribly common for these sorts of outcomes to occur. Someone manifests for an outcome, the window of completion opens, but for one reason or another the person misses, fumbles, or doesn’t even recognize the miracle.

So what’s the fix?

In my practice, informed especially by the prayer practices of the African American folk traditions, petitioning the Universe for something- be it by prayer or manifestation- cannot be done without also petitioning for protection and reception. This is because we need to be able to grasp the apple (reception), and we want to make sure we don’t drop it (protection).

And one of the best ways we can do both, in action, is preparation.

This brings me back to the original question: Are you actually prepared for your manifestation?

I recently spoke to a friend and colleague about their lack of progress with buying a house. The friend themselves had a pernicious tendency to let pessimism block even the beginnings of movement or faith in manifestation. Their mother, on the other hand, and with whom they’d be purchasing the house, tended to be very ‘pie in the sky’ about these things. She’d drive around, looking at lots of houses she might like, but then come home and do nothing else about the situation as a whole, despite how dysfunctional her current living situation was.

Now it’s easy to solve the issue with the friend- they lack faith, and let negative circumstances dictate what they consider possible. But many would consider the mother to be ‘living in the end’. So what’s missing?

Preparation.

When I spoke to the friend, I asked- “So when and if you receive an inheritance from your grandmother or land for this house, what will you do?” “I don’t even know, I don’t know anything about these processes”, he replied.

“That’s the problem”.

I’ll ask you just the same, reader; If you wanted money or a house, and that was to come in the form of an inheritance, what would you need to do? ….You would need to speak with your bank about where you’re going to deposit the funds or how to take on the related accounts for the property. You’ll need to have appointments with lawyers and estate planners in regards to the transfer of assets from the grandparent to you. And as it is, you- like my friend- may know absolutely nothing of that process, what to do first, what those conversations will even be like, etc. To that I’ll tell you what I told my friend: So you need to look into it.

A manifestation on the way is like a baby gestating. Parents to be don’t wait for the infant to arrive to prepare— in the months ahead, rooms are painted, bassinets are built, cabinets are baby proofed. In fact, many people prepare for a baby before one is even conceived- changing their lifestyle, switching job schedules, taking vitamins, exercising more, starting savings accounts. Thousands of things are done to ensure there is protection for the baby’s health and a safe place to receive them. The preparations for a baby start far before the baby’s actual appearance!

So, preparation is the embodied, active principle of making ready to receive your manifestation and protecting it in doing so. Instead of sitting and hoping and then fumbling to adjust your energy to you desire before it becomes destabilized and slips away, leaving you working to fix a spiral or picking up pieces and starting over, ask yourself this key question: What would change about my life if I had my manifestation today?

Someone manifesting an S.O. may be doing all the scripting in the world but still living as an unrepentant bachelor with no space in their life or home for another person. Someone asking the universe for a new home in 30 days may not have packed a single box. Someone manifesting more friends spends all their time working and never has time to even return a hello to a stranger on the street. There are people who want to end up in their dream career that don’t bother researching the new trade or industry at all.

The time before your manifestation shows up in the 3D isn’t your enemy, it’s the best time you’ll ever have to get ready for your gift.

When we prepare ourselves and our surroundings for our manifestation we are operating out of faith, gratitude, and care for the miracle we’ve asked for. So if you are manifesting something and don’t want to spend time fixing a missed opportunity, ask yourself:

  • Who would I be with this manifestation, and what internal shift do I need to make to welcome this version of myself?
  • What would change about my life with this manifestation, and what can I do now to adjust?

In the end, remember that ‘Living in the end’ is not just an idea, it goes beyond thought into action. If you would like support with a specific manifestation or spiritual issue, I am happy to help. Contact me at iamthatwhich@gmail.com
